Meeting for worship is the centre for Quaker life. Quakers believe – ‘there is that of God in everyone’. The meeting room is simple – no set form of service – no appointed Minister. The responsibility for the meeting belongs to all who attend.
As we sit in silence we are reminded ‘to keep your meetings in the power of God’ (George Fox). Anyone ministers when they feel called to do so.
In daily life friends emphasise experience rather than festivals or creeds. Religion is about the whole of life. Friends are pacifists: they respect diversity which is crucial to the Quaker witness today.
